Harrods does not need explaining. It is one of the most recognisable retail names in the world. A place built on detail, theatre, luxury and service expectations that are higher than most brands will ever have to meet. So when two important areas of the store were preparing to launch, the standards could not sit in people’s heads. They had to be clear. They had to be useful. They had to be repeatable.
That was where Auden came in.
The Brief
Harrods approached Auden to support the opening of The Georgian Restaurant and The Penthouse Private Shopping Service.
The brands were already there. The ambition was clear. The service expectations were high.
Auden’s role was to help turn those standards into practical toolkits that teams could use before, during and after opening.
Working with the F&B and Private Shopping teams, Auden helped define the service rituals, sequence of service and visual standards for both areas.
The aim was simple. Make exceptional service easier to understand, easier to lead and easier to deliver.
The Opportunity
The opportunity was to support two high-profile Harrods openings without slowing the teams down.
In an opening, leadership teams are stretched. Guests are expected. Details are moving. Standards are being tested in real time.
The work had to take pressure away, not add to it.
Auden’s role was to work beside the teams, capture the details, shape the standards and turn them into clear, usable modules.
Not overcomplicated manuals.
Not documents for the shelf.
Practical toolkits that helped the teams protect the Harrods standard when it mattered most.

The Moments That Matter
Rituals Worth Remembering
Auden helped define the service rituals that gave each area its own sense of occasion. Small, considered moments that made the guest experience feel personal, polished and unmistakably Harrods.
Standards Made Visible
The lookbooks turned visual expectations into something teams could see, understand and benchmark. Set-up, presentation and appearance became easier to lead because the standard was clear.
Service Without Guesswork
The sequence of service gave the teams a shared rhythm. What happens, when it happens and how it should feel. Clear enough to train. Flexible enough to remain human.
Support During the Pressure
Opening periods stretch management teams. Auden worked side by side with the leadership teams to document the standards while they focused on their people, guests and live opening priorities.
Built for What Comes Next
The toolkits were designed to last beyond launch. Digital, practical and easy to return to, giving leaders a consistent reference point for training, coaching and daily standards.
The Result
The Georgian Restaurant toolkit was successfully implemented, followed by the toolkit for The Penthouse Private Shopping Service.
Together, the projects showed how Auden could support Harrods across different parts of the business, from food and beverage to private shopping, while keeping the same focus on service clarity, guest experience and operational consistency.
The final toolkits gave the teams a practical way to protect the standard.
Clear rituals.
Clear sequences.
Clear visual benchmarks.
Clearer tools for leaders to train, coach and uphold the experience.
For Harrods, the openings were never just about beautiful spaces.
They were about delivering the service people expect from one of the most iconic names in the world.
Auden helped make that service easier to repeat.
